Combating Systemic Discrimination In Science

The Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 – related to the death of George Floyd – in the United States of America have shone a light on systemic racism globally. The events have brought into questions matters of discrimination in all facets of life, including in science. 

In November 2020, the Falling Walls Foundation convened a roundtable of experts, including UrbanBetter’s Tolullah Oni, to explore what systemic racism means. The panel discussed how this discrimination manifests in science and science systems, and what areas international science organisations can focus on to break down the walls of systemic racism in these systems.
