UrbanBetter is joining global leaders, innovators and changemakers at Climate Week NYC 2025, one of the world’s most influential climate gatherings.
Our mission is clear: to connect global rooms to local streets by spotlighting people-powered, city-led climate solutions. From Lagos to Bogotá, Nairobi to Accra, our hubs are demonstrating how evidence, citizen action and youth leadership can transform urban health and climate futures.
This year, our founder, Prof. Tolullah Oni, will contribute to two major conversations that reflect our core approach:
🔹 Acting on Air Quality: Open Data for Greater Impact (26 September, hosted by Climate TRACE and OpenAQ, details here)
Air pollution is the leading environmental cause of mortality, cutting short millions of lives each year. This event will explore how open data can drive stronger action on both air quality and climate. Tolullah will share UrbanBetter’s experience showing why advocacy without evidence is noise — and how transparent, citizen-driven data strengthens campaigns for healthier cities.
🔹 Data, Infrastructure, and Power: Building Inclusive Futures (26 September, 307 W 38th St Studio 1401, details here)
Data is never neutral; it shapes how we plan, finance and govern. In this session, Tolullah will highlight how UrbanBetter leverages data and digital infrastructure to influence urban health policy, while raising critical questions about equity, justice and citizen agency in the data ecosystem.
Alongside these speaking roles, Tolullah will also be engaging and participating in other sessions and networking opportunities throughout the week, connecting with partners, funders and peers who share our commitment to healthier, more equitable cities.
For UrbanBetter, participation in Climate Week is not about being in the room for its own sake. It is about bringing citizen voices into global climate conversations, ensuring that the lived realities of those most affected by climate and health challenges are not left at the margins.
