Tyla holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Political Science and Sociology from the University of KwaZulu Natal. Her career highlights include her selection into an intergovernmental exchange program between South Africa and Germany on the political history of young people of both countries. Tyla has also contributed to the formation of the South African Youth Climate Action Plan and South African Youth Gender Action Plan – which are two youth-led policy recommendations on climate and gender and taken these two documents on roadshows across South Africa. As the Hub Coordinator for the Johannesburg Cityzens Hub, she is passionate about research‑driven social media and youth engagement strategies that create awareness on human rights, air quality, youth agency and inspire actionable change in communities. She is particularly interested in blending data analysis with purposeful communication to advance youth development, gender equality and community empowerment, aiming to turn research into physical, meaningful action that transforms urban environments. Tyla asserts this appointment as a personal call to lead a healthier lifestyle through physical activity.
